Dottie

Private, from first period to last.

A cycle tracker for iPhone with no account and no cloud. Nothing you log leaves your device, so there is nothing to leak.

Today, the ring is your cycle.

The stardust is your cycle so far. The soft band is your expected period. Under the ring, a line for the day: one of Dottie's own notes, chosen by the date, the same note all day.

On the calendar, the same window.

Period days you logged, the window when your period may start drawn as a range, and the phases between. Tap any past or today's date to log it. Future dates are read-only.

Expected: the window when your period may start.

Over months, your patterns.

Cycle length, period length, the symptoms that keep company with each phase. Counts, never scores. Your patterns are calculated on this device and never uploaded.

Average cycle 31d · Full spread 4d · Typical period 5d

A single date sounds sure. Dottie shows you the range, and what it rests on.

Looks certain, but it's a guess with the uncertainty hidden.

The soft band on the ring and the dashed days on the calendar are the same window. When cycles vary, the range widens, and Dottie says so. A late day gets calm, neutral information, never a conclusion.

Tap around. It's a working recreation, with made-up data.

Move between Today, Calendar and Insights. Open the log, tap a symptom, press Done, then look for it under Insights. Log Light, Medium or Heavy flow and watch the ring, the headline and the calendar agree. Nothing you tap is stored anywhere.

Try: Log how you feel, then Symptoms, then Cramps.

Every stage, the same quiet app.

Dottie changes what it says, not who it is. Each of these is in the app today, in its own words.

  1. First cyclesPredictions stay wide and fertility features are off. Explanations assume you are new to all this.
  2. On the pill, ring or patch“Pack · Day 14 of 28.” “Placebo days start Nov 16.” From your pack schedule, not a guess.
  3. Hormonal IUD, implant or shot“No period prediction on this method. Dottie watches for changes instead.”
  4. Pregnant“Week 20 · due around Mar 17.” A week counter, your records and the doctor visit summary, and nothing else.
  5. After a pregnancy“Predictions stay off until a new period is logged. Cycles can take time to come back, and there is no set schedule.”
  6. Changing cycles“Likely within the next 1–4 weeks.” Ranges widen when cycles do, and a quiet counter keeps the months.
  7. After menopause“12 months without a recorded period.” Logging carries on: symptoms, notes, the doctor visit summary.

Loss is held too. “I'm no longer pregnant” turns everything pregnancy related off, with a choice to resume now or pause for a while. “Take whatever time you need. Dottie will be here, exactly as you left it.”

Pick your vibe.

You can change this anytime in Settings. Four palettes, and light or dark with the phone. Themes change color only, never layout. This page and the demo follow your pick.

Midnight is the discreet one: dark in both settings.

Private by design, and you can test it.

Not a promise on a page. Things you can do on the phone and watch for yourself.

Turn on airplane mode. Dottie works exactly the same.

A summary you could hand over.

A PDF of your cycle history and symptom patterns, created on this device from your own data.

It has to be readable by your doctor, so the PDF isn't encrypted. Dottie deletes its copy after you share it. Any copies you save or send are under your control.

Plus adds a cycle table, flagged patterns, a day-by-day symptom map and the health details you choose to type in at export, which are never saved.

A little about why Dottie exists

Dottie started with someone very close to me.

My partner was 30 when she went into early menopause. It was a confusing time, and finding the right support wasn't easy.

We looked for an app that could help her understand and track what she was going through, but nothing felt right. Some were overwhelming, filled with features she didn't need. Others were too limited to reflect what she was experiencing.

I wanted to make something calm and simple, where she could track what was happening without feeling overwhelmed, and where her personal information stayed personal.

What started as an app for her slowly grew. I realized there might be other women, at every age and stage of life, looking for the same thing: a place to understand their own experiences without giving up their privacy.

That's why I made Dottie. It's a small project with a lot of heart behind it, and I hope it makes someone's day a little easier, the way I hoped it would for my partner.

If you have an idea, or something isn't working the way you'd like, I'd love to hear from you at hello@thedottie.app. There's no pressure to write, but your feedback helps shape what Dottie becomes.

Thank you for giving Dottie a place in your life.

What does Dottie collect?

Nothing. There is no account, no server and no analytics. The App Store privacy label is the blank one. This website is the same: no cookies, no trackers, no third-party scripts or fonts.

What is free, and what is Plus?

Logging, the calendar with two months ahead, predictions, every safety feature, pregnancy mode, changing cycles, first cycles and the doctor visit summary are free. Your own history is free to see. Plus adds symptom timing and heads-ups, twelve months on the calendar, a fuller doctor visit summary, trying to conceive, Apple Health sync, the library and a recap after each cycle. Apple shows the price in your region, and there are no sales or countdowns.

What if I lose my phone?

Export an encrypted backup whenever you like, with a passphrase you choose, and keep it where you keep your own files. Restore it on a new phone from Settings or from the lock screen. If you forget the passphrase, the file is gone. There is no reset, because there is no server.

Can I bring my history from another app?

If it is in Apple Health, yes: a one-time import of menstrual flow and spotting, read on the device. Days you've already logged stay as they are. Dottie never writes to Apple Health.

Does Dottie prevent pregnancy?

No. Dottie is information only. It is not medical advice or contraception. Fertile-window estimates are for awareness only, and they stay off on hormonal methods.

Who made Dottie?

Just me, Rob. Dottie is a one-person project. It's paid for by the people who choose Plus, not by advertisers, so there's nothing to sell.
